Get Ready for Global Running Day

Get Ready for Global Running DayRunners unite! June 7, 2017 is Global Running Day, the day enthusiasts all over the world celebrate their beloved sport by getting out and pounding the pavement. It all starts with a simple question: what do you run for? For fitness? For fun? Does running bring relief to your life? Across the globe, there are many answers to this question, as well as many forms of running. Some have their softball leagues. Others are training for the next half marathon. On Global Running Day, runners from around the world come together and pledge to participate in some kind of running activity, all for the love of their sport.

Will you be joining them?

One of the best things about this celebration is that anyone, anywhere, can participate. You can pledge to run, donate toward charities like Charity Miles, or organize a local school, business, or church to make an even larger impact. And of course, it’s always fun to get involved on social media using the #globalrunningday and #nationalrunningday hashtags for your pictures and posts about the event.

At AlterG, we love Global Running Day. The joy of running is part of why we do what we do. Many visitors to our physical therapy clinic are runners, or incorporate running into their daily routines and training regimens. And each day, we rely on the technology in our anti-gravity treadmills to help clients improve their running technique, prevent injuries, or recover from any problems or pain that might arise.

Training for a major run can be an especially challenging process. Some targeted, informed preparation can go a long way to preventing injury and ensuring success. We help runners prepare for the big run with gait training and running assessments. Using our AlterG Anti-Gravity treadmills, we use video analysis and corrective procedures to help encourage pain-free, efficient running mechanics.

But Global Running Day is all about you. This Wednesday, think about why it is you run. What does it mean to you? Join us as we reflect on the importance of this ancient way of moving in our lives and wellness regimens. And be sure to get out and have a run, however short or long.

Your fellow runners from around the world will be joining you.
