Charles Remsberg, CEO of AlterG
Mr. Remsberg has 20 years of executive experience building global sales for leading high-technology rehab companies. Charles joined AlterG as Vice President of International Sales after serving for 4 years as CEO of Tibion, the creator of the Bionic Leg, where he led the transition from technical idea through market engagement and product commercialization. Tibion pioneered the adoption of the Bionic Leg, a wearable, battery-operated robotic device for mobility impairments, within private clinics, rehabilitation hospitals, home health providers, and skilled nursing facilities.Prior to Tibion, Charles lead the U.S. sales and marketing arm of the privately held Swiss company, Hocoma AG, best known for its clinic-based Lokomat robotic gait orthosis that has helped thousands of American patients with spinal cord, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and cerebral palsy to recover their ability to walk. Mr. Remsberg has also served as Head of Worldwide Sales for Hocoma AG in Switzerland, and for more than 10 years, as an executive of Biodex Medical Systems in New York. At Biodex, he rose from Product Development Manager to Head of Worldwide Sales for this leading pioneer of balance, gait, and joint rehabilitation systems.Kevin Davidge, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Davidge has 20 years of executive financial leadership for a wide variety of healthcare/life science companies in the biotechnology, medical imaging, and diagnostics segments. Most recently, Mr. Davidge was CFO for HX Diagnostics, a start-up company developing point-of-care diagnostics tests for infectious diseases. HX was merged into NexusDx in 2009. Prior to that, Mr. Davidge served as CFO for two medical imaging companies, R2 Technology and ZONARE Medical Systems. Revenues in both companies ramped from zero to $30–$60 million within four years of product launch. Earlier in his career, Mr. Davidge was CFO at Athena Neurosciences, a publicly traded biopharmaceutical company where revenues grew from zero to $70 million in four years. Athena was sold to Elan in 1996 for $600 million.
Mr. Davidge has extensive fundraising, M&A, and product licensing experience, having raised over $200 million in equity, debt and off balance sheet financings. Mr. Davidge spent the first nine years of his career in the international public accounting firm of KPMG. Mr. Davidge graduated from UC Berkeley Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude with a B.S. in Business Administration.
Michael McGirr, Vice President of Technology
Mr. McGirr has over 20 years of experience in information technology and software development with various tech companies in both the Midwest and on the West Coast. Prior to AlterG, Michael worked in technical and business sales for Apple. He then started his own IT consulting firm, assisting small business customers to advance their internal IT systems to meet growing needs. Mr. McGirr joined the AlterG team in 2008, first as a consultant, then as a full-time employee, and finally as the Director of Information Technology in 2014. As a member of the new product development team, Mr. McGirr has played a key role in bringing AlterG’s new software-based products to market.
Michael holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Ohio University, where he specialized in Computer Engineering.
Mike Phillips, Vice President of Operations and Engineering
Mr. Phillips brings 30 years of experience in industry to AlterG. He began his career at start-up Convergent Technologies, advancing through the organization to hold positions of Director of Manufacturing Engineering and Director of Operations. From Convergent, Mr. Phillips moved to SuperMac where he helped the company strategically outsource its operations overseas. While working at Gregory Associates selling outsourcing design and manufacturing of capital equipment, Mike was recruited to join ADAC Labs, his first medical company, as Director of Manufacturing Engineering. ADAC was eventually bought out by Philips Medical Systems, where Mike stayed for the next ten years. During his tenure at Philips, he led a variety of teams in Engineering, Operations, and Service, including teams on global outsourcing, supply chain management, and integrating international service support organizations.
In March 2009, Mr. Phillips joined AlterG as Vice President of Operations. He holds BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering, an MBA, and is an accomplished Six Sigma Black Belt. Currently Mr. Phillips is also a trustee for St. Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy, CA.
Allison Sojka, Vice President of Marketing
Ms. Sojka’s marketing career is characterized by her leadership at game-changing medical device companies that have re-set the standard in their categories, helping to build some of the most notable brands in the rehabilitation industry. Her entree to healthcare marketing began with Game Ready®, an orthopedic and sports medicine recovery technology, where she helped grow the company from a niche capital equipment product sold to professional sports teams to a post-op orthopedic device for the mass market. Allison then joined rehabilitative robotics company Ekso Bionics®, where she was elevated to serve as Vice President of Marketing. Here she led the company’s marketing efforts through its initial public offering and during a key transition from developer of a novel assistive device for spinal cord injury victims to a rehabilitative solution for those with broader neurological conditions relearning to walk on their own. Prior to joining AlterG, Allison was Vice President of Marketing with LIM Innovations, developers of a disruptive new prosthetic technology representing a paradigm shift in possibilities for amputees.
Ms. Sojka received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Redlands, earning High Honors.
Robert Wellman, Vice President of Sales
Since joining the company in 2012, Mr. Wellman has been instrumental in driving market penetration for AlterG. Mr. Wellman has held various roles within the organization including Regional Account Manager, District Manager, Director of National Accounts and US Sales Director. With these roles, as well as his career experience in both business development and marketing, Mr. Wellman has built a strategic perspective for the organization to understand customer needs resulting in consistent sales growth. Mr. Wellman’s experience and sales leadership, position him well to lead sales efforts for AlterG in the United States.
Mr. Wellman holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Baylor University and an MBA from Southern Methodist University.
