Me On The AlterG

Since becoming a part of Spring Valley Chiropractic in February, I have had the privilege of the AlterG antigravity treadmill at my disposal.  Between then and now I had been training for a half marathon that I completed in April.  My time for the Big D Half Marathon was 2:42:08 averaging about 12:30/mile.  Not bad for my first endurance event.  Lately I have been doing my entire running on the AlterG playing around with factors such as body percentage, speed, and inline.  Here are two examples of workouts that I have done: Continue reading “Me On The AlterG”

Run Training on the AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill

At Spring Valley Chiropractic, the majority of our patients are athletes, usually runners, cyclist or triathletes (or all three).  I recently began working with a patient that was having difficulty running without pain.  After my initial examination and ruling out a stress fracture, my first course of action was to place my patient on the AlterG so that he could resume running pain free. Glute Strengthening and ITB Syndrome

Many distance runners at all level are familiar with Iliotibial Band (or ITB) Syndrome.  Whether they’ve suffered from it themselves or they know someone who has, the soreness along the sides of the thighs and the sharp knee pain is something they would rather soon forget.  What many people may not know is how having a proper glute strengthening program can help alleviate and prevent ITB syndrome. Spinal Conditions and the AlterG

Dr. Andrew Goodman is a Cum Laude graduate from Parker College of Chiropractic licensed to practice in the state of Texas.  Upon graduating from Richardson High School, Dr. Goodman attended the University of Texas at Austin. It was during this time that Dr. Goodman chose to pursue a career in chiropractic medicine.  Dr. Goodman is a practicing Chiropractor at Spring Valley Chiropractic that will be contributing patient stories from time to time and the progression they have when using AlterG therapy as part of their visit.
